A First Sip of Stillness
Step away from the rush and into a moment made just for you.
Hello friends,
This month’s theme in The Nest is “The Practice of Noticing.” So it felt fitting when I noticed something rather curious yesterday. A newsletter that I thought had gone out just a few days ago appeared with an early August date and an entirely different URL. Even stranger—it seems many of you never received it. When I asked a dear friend, she confirmed it never landed in her inbox. Mysterious, right?
In any case, I want to share it with you again, because it’s an important part of my unfolding story. This post is the first of three that will introduce the three powerful pillars at the heart of our retreat experience—beginning with the journey from Gather & Pause to The Nest Virtual Retreat Center.
Click here and I’ll read this newsletter to you!
At the heart of The Nest are three steady pillars, like the beams that hold up a beloved old barn — strong, simple, and always there for you. Stillness, Creativity, and Connection are more than ideas; they are invitations into a gentler, more intentional way of living. Each pillar offers its own gift.
Today, we explore the first — Stillness — and let it remind us of the strength and clarity that come when we pause.
Stillness is a gift you give yourself — an intentional breath, a quiet moment, a softening of pace. It’s not about stopping time or emptying your mind completely, but about creating space to listen to your breath, your body, and the steady rhythm of your heart. In these pauses, stress loosens its grip, clarity returns, and your soul finds room to breathe.
One of the simplest ways to welcome stillness into your life is to create a sacred space. This doesn’t have to be elaborate — just a corner, a chair, or a sunny window that’s yours alone. Fill it with things that bring you comfort and joy: a candle, a cozy blanket, a vase of fresh flowers, a journal, a seashell from the shore. Let it reflect you. Visit it whenever you need to exhale and return to yourself.
In this space, you’ll discover that stillness restores your energy, sharpens your focus, and opens the door to creativity and insight. You don’t have to earn it or prove you need it — you simply arrive, as you are.
Included are two gentle stillness practices to try in your sacred space, and to return to often.
I’ll be sharing more stillness practices here regularly—simple, nourishing ways to pause and reconnect—so you’ll always have fresh inspiration to bring into your own life.

Lovely, thank you. A
