A small human note about today’s reflection:
In my earlier email, I referred to the herd on the hill as caribou - and a kind friend later reminded me they were elk.
The heart of the story remains the same: sometimes the way through isn’t pushing ahead alone, but staying close and steady together.
Thank you for the grace of being human here.
Hello, I’m really happy you’re here.
This is a quiet corner where I explore what it means to live with more heart and less hurry - through stillness, creativity, and connection. I’m someone learning, right alongside you, how to pause long enough to listen for what truly matters. Pull up a chair. There’s space for you here.
I was cleaning house in my iPhone photos
when I came across an image
that stopped me.
On a winter drive, just south of where I live,
we spotted them-
a herd of elk,
high on a hill.
It was one of those moments
when instinct takes over.
Find a place to turn around.
Go back.
Get closer.
They were huddled together-
the whole herd.
Still.
Quiet.
Close.
Not in a hurry.
Not pushing ahead.
Just gathered.
In the cold, they stayed together.
Close enough to share warmth.
Close enough to wait it out.
I remember how awe-inspiring it felt-
not because they were dramatic or rare,
but because they were doing
exactly what was needed.
To see even one elk is uncommon.
To witness the whole herd gathered together
felt extraordinary-
something we weren’t meant to rush past.
It reminded me
that there are moments
when the wisest thing
isn’t to push on alone,
but to step closer
to those who support us.
Sometimes the way through
is simply staying close.
An Invitation to the Kitchen Table
The Kitchen Table is a monthly virtual gathering where we come together to talk, create, and reflect. Each gathering includes a soft arrival, guided conversation, and a simple creative practice - all held with care to invite honest connection and shared presence.
In February, we gather around the theme Love Is in the Air.
Join us Friday, February 13, from 6:00–7:30 pm MST at The Kitchen Table.
If you feel moved, I’d be grateful if you like this post with a ❤️, share a thought in the comments, or pass it along to someone who might enjoy a pause. Each small gesture helps this quiet space reach others who may need it.
