WHAT IS A SACRED SPACE?
According to Encyclopedia.com, “A sacred place is, first of all, a defined place, a space distinguished from other spaces.” It has a religious connotation, but sacred also means “not to be violated, criticized, or tampered with”.
My definition of a sacred space is... a little piece of your home you can claim as your own, filled with things that bring you joy and used for your own personal reasons.
WHERE CAN I CREATE MY SACRED SPACE?
Anywhere you can find privacy -- in the corner of a room, a guest bedroom, in your yard, on your porch, near a window with good sunlight or a view. Your space is a gift to yourself -- a place where you sit down and say 'ahh". Fill it with meaningful things that bring you joy. Go on a treasure hunt in your home and gather items to bring to your sacred space - a candle, a favorite vase full of beautiful flowers or a potted plant, a cozy blanket, photos of people who inspire you (for me that's my Grandma and my girl gang), crystals, essential oil diffuser, sea shells, heart-shaped rocks or crystals, a journal, music.
WHEN TO USE YOUR SPACE?
Whenever you feel overwhelmed, want to leave your stress behind and take a break. When you’re ready to slow down, enter your sacred space.
"Your sacred space is where you can find yourself over and over again." ~ Joseph Campbell
