Hello friends,
As Autumn calls, I’m taken back to September 2019, when I hosted an in-person gathering called Herbal Happiness: An Evening of Tea. I was fortunate to collaborate with Danielle Prohom-Olson of Gather Victoria, and together we explored the beauty of herbs, their magic, and their many uses.
I recently rediscovered a few short videos from that evening—tucked away on my digital shelf, quietly gathering dust. The filming is nothing fancy (just me with my iPhone 😜), and they don’t capture Danielle’s full talk, but I’m delighted to share them with you now. You’ll find the links below in the order I recommend watching. Even in their imperfect form, I hope you’ll discover a few gems—little facts and insights that feel both interesting and helpful.
Perhaps these glimpses will inspire you to step outside, gather a few herbs of your own this season, and try brewing a simple tea or weaving them into a tea wreath—a small, beautiful ritual to pause, savor, and sip the season slowly.
In one of the videos, Danielle mentions her Facebook page, where you’ll find more about Tea Wreaths, and even more magic on her website here.
A short time after that gathering, a dear friend and I made our own tea wreaths. We collected herbs from a few community gardens in my neighborhood, while she contributed tree branches from her yard. Looking back fills me with joy—the conversations shared, the beauty of simple rituals, and the way time seemed to gently slow as we gathered, both in the garden and beyond.
Today, I pulled up a chair at my kitchen table and wove a tea wreath—using basil from my own balcony garden and roses foraged from our condo garden. I was touched by the kindness of strangers when I posted a message in a local gardening group and a lovely woman gifted me lemon balm. My daughter added fresh mint, completing the circle of generosity. Now, with rose, lemon balm, mint, and basil entwined, my kitchen is filled with the most beautiful fragrance—like a spell of gratitude and wonder, a reminder of how simple gatherings can turn the everyday into something quietly magical.
This time of year feels like an invitation to gather—whether it’s herbs from your own garden, treasures from the forest, or a few fragrant sprigs kindly shared by a friend. Autumn offers her abundance freely, and when we pause to collect these gifts and weave them into our daily rituals, we carry a little of the season’s magic forward with us.

Yes this does feel like a season which invites gathering! I am meeting with a group of doula friends at the end of the month to celebrate my chapter of a book and celebrate the autumn equinox. A fresh little herbal wreath sounds like a wonderful party gift!
How Beautiful Kathy! 💕
