Hello friends,
Last week our creative invitation was to write a postcard to self. I wrote to myself from a magical forest, a place that has been whispering to me often.
I remembered birdsong and sunlight warming my face. Horses handmade from logs, a makeshift playground where I could ride off to faraway lands. My parents and their friends nearby, creating a safe space filled with laughter and belonging.
But as I sit with that memory, I realize it’s not just the place I long for. It’s what that place held—the freedom to imagine and explore, the joy of playful adventure, the comfort of community, the magic of simply being.
That feeling still lives deep inside me.
Longing often isn’t for a place or moment alone.
It’s a gentle reminder of what nourishes our soul—
adventure, connection, play, and belonging.
This week, let’s listen to what our own longing is really calling us toward.
What feelings, dreams, or experiences are quietly asking to be remembered, reclaimed, or invited back? What does your heart truly yearn for beneath the surface?
Let’s follow that thread home.
💫Gentle Prompts for Reflection
Choose one or more to explore this week—write, ponder, or sit quietly with them:
When I think about what I’m truly longing for, what feelings come to the surface?
What kind of adventure, play, or joy does my heart crave right now?
Who do I long to connect with, or feel close to—even if just in spirit?
When have I felt most free, alive, and truly myself?
How might I invite a sense of playfulness, belonging, or exploration back into my life—no matter how small?
🎨A Creative Invitation: The Object of Longing
Find or choose one small object—from your home or nature—that symbolizes a longing you hold right now.
It could be:
A smooth stone that feels like steadiness
A photo that reminds you of adventure
A candle for clarity
A feather, a flower, a shell—anything that resonates
Place it somewhere you’ll see it often this week. Let it be a gentle altar—a physical reminder of what you’re inviting in.
Each time you notice it, pause. Breathe. Say:
“I see you. I’m listening.”
🕯 Stillness Practice: The Whisper of Longing
Set a timer for five minutes. Sit quietly with your hands open in your lap.
Breathe slowly, and ask:
What am I longing for right now—really long for?
Notice what arises—feelings, images, words. Don’t try to fix or plan. Just be with what’s true.
You don’t have to do anything with the answers yet.
Just let your longings have a voice.
This week, let your longings speak. Not with urgency or pressure—but with presence.
Trust that they are not signs of lack, but sacred clues… pointing you back toward what lights you up. You are not far from what you seek. You are remembering your way home.
What are you longing for right now?
Hope you'll join us at The Kitchen Table on Friday, June 27th. This month at the Kitchen Table, we gather with suitcases full of stories, hearts cracked open by beauty, and maybe even a little sand still in our shoes.
Inspired by the theme “The Art of Returning,” we’ll explore what it means to come home—not just physically, but emotionally and soulfully—after stepping away from our everyday lives. Whether you’ve recently travelled far or simply taken a pause from routine, time away has a way of shifting something inside us. We’ll reflect on how holidays—of any kind—leave us changed, awakened, softened, and somehow a little more ourselves again.
As always, we’ll share gentle conversation, meaningful reflection, and a creative project to anchor our experience.
This month’s creative invitation:
You’ll be guided in creating a simple handmade card inspired by a travel memory—real or imagined. Your card will serve as a soulful keepsake of a time you felt truly alive and present.
Bring your tea, your stories, and watch for a list of supplies you'll require for the creative project. Let’s gather and gently honor the magic of stepping away—and the beauty of what we find when we return.
Hope you can join us!
